Arc’teryx Cerium Down Jacket in Stratus, $305 (was $380) at REI
Need a warm jacket that can keep up with you during high-intensity activities? You’ve found it. The Cerium is made from a recycled dope-dyed nylon Arato fabric that’s lightweight yet durable, and it’s treated with a DWR finish to repel light precipitation that both keeps you dry and preserves the insulating power of the down. Inside, it’s stuffed with 850-fill-power, RDS-certified down for reliable warmth, and it’s paired with Coreloft synthetic insulation in places that often see moisture buildup, so there’s no loss of insulation if you sweat, for example. The baffles are patterned to promote freedom of movement, so this jacket won’t restrict you when you’re running, skiing, or hiking, and the drop hem offers extra coverage at the back (it also includes an adjustable drawcord). It's also highly portable: It packs down neatly into a stuff sack for storage.
Arc’teryx products often win raves from reviewers, but the Cerium is a true standout for its warmth and versatility. “It keeps me perfectly warm,” said one shopper. “Super lightweight and packable too, which is a huge plus for traveling or layering on the go!”
